A man was watching a football game on TV when his 5-year-old son kept bothering him. In an attempt to give the boy something to focus on, the man grabbed a page from the Sunday newspaper, which had a full-page airline ad with a picture of the world seen from space.

The man tore the page into a dozen pieces and gave them to his son, telling him to put it back together with some tape.

To the man’s surprise, in a short amount of time, the boy had the picture all taped back together. It wasn’t the neatest job, but for a 5-year-old, it was a very good job indeed.

The father said, “Hey, that’s amazing,”. “How did you put that world together so quickly?”

the boy replied, “There was a picture of a man on the other side,”. “I just put the man together and then the world was all together.”

The son was no doubt surprised by the big warm hug he got. That’s right son, the father said when the man is all together, his world is altogether too…

This interaction was a powerful lesson in perspective for the man. He realized that when the man is all together, his world is altogether too.

As leaders and professionals, it’s important to keep this in mind. Individual well-being, relationships, and overall outlook greatly impact success and happiness in both personal and professional lives. It’s important to strive to keep oneself and those around one together.

here are 5 things you can do to get your world in order.

  1. Prioritize self-care: Take care of your physical, mental, and emotional health by getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in physical activity. It’s also important to engage in activities that bring you joy and make you feel good, such as reading a book, meditating, or spending time with loved ones.
  2. Set goals and make a plan: Having clear and achievable goals can help you focus and stay motivated. Make a plan for how you’re going to achieve your goals, breaking them down into smaller, manageable tasks. Review your progress regularly and adjust your plan as needed.
  3. Manage your time effectively: Use your time wisely by prioritizing your tasks and focusing on what’s most important. Avoid distractions and minimize time wasters. Consider using time-management techniques, such as the Pomodoro Method, to help you stay productive.
  4. Cultivate positive relationships: Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Make time for friends and family, and be open and honest with those closest to you. Seek out opportunities to make new friends and build meaningful relationships with others.
  5. Take responsibility: Recognize that you are in control of your own life and that your actions and decisions impact your world. Take responsibility for your actions and be accountable for your mistakes. This will help you build trust and credibility with others, and give you the confidence to make positive changes in your life.
