As creative professionals, we all know the importance of finding our true calling and pursuing it with passion and dedication. Vincent Van Gogh, a late-blooming artist who started his journey at the age of 27, is a testament to this ideal. Despite facing numerous challenges, including poverty and lack of recognition, he devoted himself to his craft, producing an impressive collection of 840 paintings, 850 drawings, and watercolors in just ten short years.

Vincent’s story is a reminder that true success comes from pursuing our passions with perseverance and dedication, no matter the obstacles we face. Despite the fact that he sold only one painting in his lifetime and had no assets, he never lost his love for art and his drive to create. In his final months, he painted tirelessly, completing 70 paintings and over 30 drawings in the last 70 days of his life. Today, Vincent’s legacy lives on as he is widely regarded as one of the greatest artists of all time.

In Vincent’s own words,

“I am often very rich. Not in money but rich because I have found my vocation, something that I can devote my heart and soul to, that gives life inspiration and meaning.”

He recognized that inspiration is the seed that needs to be nurtured and that it is the wise artist who knows when to step back and let their creation mature.

As we navigate the ups and downs of our careers, let us take inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s story and never lose sight of our passions. With patience, perseverance, and a little bit of inspiration, we can overcome any obstacle and create something truly remarkable.”
